Okay! So I’ve written before about how procrastination can be a good thing. Not necessarily the act itself, but that sometimes it’s okay to take a break when you need it.
Now I’m going to write about the flip side.
If you are a regular reader of mine, you’ll realize that this post is a day late. And, honestly, it’s all due to procrastination.
I have a little alarm that goes off every single Monday at 10am to remind me to write my blog post. And I was sitting at my computer when it went off. And I said, “Cool! It’s 10!” and proceeded to work on something else. I wanted to finish that current project; which is fine!
But then I spent the entire day coming up with other things I should do instead. And then I went to a family event. And then I forgot. And then it was way too late to post a blog post.
I had no good excuse to not write. I just didn’t know what to write about and so, I just didn’t write.
If nothing else, yesterday’s procrastination gave me something to write about!
However, I bet there are things in your life that you’ve procrastinated, even if it was really important. I do it all the time. And I hate that I do it…
When I find myself in that loop of procrastination, really the only thing I can do is force myself to sit down and just do it.
I set goals for myself. It’s often difficult to get started, but once I reach each small goal, it gives me encouragement to get to the next one.
What goals can you set for yourself?
And what do you to get out of the loop of procrastination? Do you have advice to share with me and our other readers?
