Sometimes it feels like everything in your life is out of control. It feels like no matter what you do, someone or something else is always pulling the strings and making the decisions for you.
I’ve been there plenty of times.
What I’ve found that helps me see hope in the midst of that is to take control of just one small thing in my life.
This control looks different for every single person.
For me, it’s turning my phone to ‘Do Not Disturb’ during specific times of the day: when I’m sleeping, when I’m journaling, etc.
It’s simple and may seem uninspired, but it’s something that I can control but that won’t control me.
That’s right. When choosing something to control in our lives, we have to be careful. Sometimes our control over something ends up becoming unhealthy and it ends up controlling us instead.
That doesn’t mean you’re weak. It doesn’t mean you’re a screw up or stupid. It means you need to seek help. When life starts controlling us, it’s very difficult to pull ourselves out of that rut.
And, honestly, when you seek help, that is you taking another stab at taking control. You see what in your life isn’t working and decide to fix it. That’s a wonderful and powerful thing.
