Hope :: Live in the Moment

Listen here!

For the past few weeks, I’ve been existing from one event or assignment to the next. Time seems to be racing forward and I feel like I’m being dragged along.

Not the most glorious experience or description, but there you have it.

This isn’t the first time in my life this has happened, nor will it be the last. I am getting better at recognizing it sooner though.

What gave me the big hint? I didn’t remember last week’s Wednesday post until Friday. Because I lost track of what day I was on.

This is a common cycle for me. I have a feeling many others are the same way.

So how do you break this cycle?

Live in the moment.

If you’re surviving from one event to the next, it’s hard to appreciate what you have in the here and now.

You can feel like you’re barely keeping your head above water.

It can feel dangerous to pause, take a breath, and take in the world around you. You fear that if you do that, the world will keep racing by and leave you behind.

It won’t.

See, time is a funny thing. Yes, the clock keeps ticking. But when you pause your race to the top (or wherever you’re going) to breathe and take in where you are right this moment, it’s as if time slows with you. Time suspends and we realize that our drive and focus is what makes it feel like we’re running out of time.

I’m not saying to stop what you’re doing.

But if you pause for just a moment and start connecting with your life and those around you, you’ll see that it didn’t need to be as hectic as you thought.

Instead of surviving, you’ll start thriving.

Yes, that was cheesy, but it’s true.

Believe me, I’m writing these words for myself as much as for you. I forgot to live in the moment.

Maybe you did too. Give it a chance.
