So sorry! Apparently I forgot to hit the final “schedule” for this post and didn’t realize it until now. A day late, but I hope it finds you well!
When you get a cut, you always have to clean the wound before you do anything else.
Is this a pain-free process? Absolutely not. It actually tends to hurt worse.
So why do we do it? Because not cleaning a wound can lead to infection and leaves us worse in the end.
We have to go through a little extra pain to get to the healing.
The same thing happens with emotional pain.
Life hurts sometimes.
When we lose a loved one—whether to death or a break-up or something else—it hurts. We often don’t want to talk about it. Why? Because that makes it hurt more.
However, I’ve learned from experience that when we open up and speak about it, it does hurt more in the moment, but it also helps.
We can’t heal from any wound, physical or mental or spiritual, unless we confront the pain and purge ourselves of the dirt.
Betrayal is another one. It breaks our trust. It makes us close ourselves off from others. As scary as it is, we have to eventually open ourselves up again or we’ll end up alone and bitter and angry.
Thinking about opening up that first time will probably hurt in some way, a panic attack or physical sickness. We can get ourselves so worked up over it. That’s where having a counselor helps. I didn’t trust anyone for a while, but a counselor was different. My mind knew they couldn’t turn on me or betray me.
It hurt to talk about possibly trusting others again, but when I started meeting people again, I found that I was in the healing process and it wasn’t painful to open up anymore.
No matter what pain you’re dealing with (physical, emotional, or spiritual), I can promise you that you will get through this.
Not all sickness is taken from us here on earth, but if you believe in heaven like I do, then I can guarantee you that your body will be made perfect.
But the rest of the pain? It may seem overwhelming in the moment, but you’ll make it to the other side, and you’ll be better off for it when you get there.
