Weekend Whispers :: Job 38:36

Who gives intuition to the heart
and instinct to the mind?

Job 38:36 NLT

It’s really easy sometimes to feel like God has abandoned us. To feel that, no matter what we do, it’s like God is in a completely separate place from us and doesn’t care.

Don’t get me wrong, I think we all know deep down that God loves us in the deepest darkness, but sometimes we feel forgotten.

A lot of times, we feel forgotten in the moments where we need to make a decision and we don’t know which way to go. But if we really look within ourselves, we’ll see that God is guiding us and all we need to do is listen.

I challenge you to go read the whole book of Job. It’s got some really powerful stuff. One thing that stood out to me was him crying out for a Mediator (9:33).

Friend, that Mediator is Jesus (and through him, the Holy Spirit).

Job was separated by God through sin (though he continuously called out how much he didn’t sin) and longed for someone to step between them, to take God’s wrath and fix the relationship.

The good news for us is that if you accept you are a sinner, believe that Jesus is the Son of God who came to earth as a man, lived a sinless life, died on the cross in your place, and rose to life three days later, you will be saved.

And with that salvation comes the Mediator, speaking to our hearts and guiding us, even when things feel silent. God has never forgotten you. He has given us his wisdom in our hearts to help us know, instinctively, what he wants from us.

We just have to learn to listen.

Heavenly Father, thank you for never giving up on me. Please help me to see you, even when it feels like I’m alone. Help me to remember to seek you within and know that you have a plan for me. Thank you for never abandoning me, and help me to remember that promise. In Jesus’s name, amen.
