Hey, everyone! Sorry for no recording today. I got hit with sudden allergies, and between the stuffed up nose and the sinus headache, recording wasn’t at the top of my list.
On to the scheduled post:
I want to focus today on what hope is and how to find it. I’ve talked about this before, but I feel compelled to write about it again this week.
I could give a textbook definition, but those rarely help with these ideals.
So what is hope to me? It’s an internal knowledge that, no matter what’s going on on the outside, you know everything is going to eventually be alright.
It’s living life each day, looking back and seeing the obstacles you’ve already come through, and looking ahead to see that maybe the mountains aren’t as big as you thought they were.
It’s knowing you’re going to make it to the other side of whatever trial you’re in the middle of.
So how do I find this hope?
Mostly I find it through my faith in God. I believe there is someone bigger out there who loves me and wants the best for me.
Does this mean everything will be perfect? No.
Will I always get what I want? No. Will bad things still happen? Yes.
But I know that when all is said and done, I will have fought the good fight, finished the race, and gone on to live in eternity with the One who created me.
If you’re not quite there yet, I get it. So where can you find Hope if you don’t have faith?
Well, as I said above, one of the things you can do is look back over your life and acknowledge the times you didn’t think you’d make it through. See that you did, indeed, survive the hardships. When you remember doing what, at the time, felt impossible, it will help you find hope that your current situation is possible too.
The more we overcome adversity, no matter how small a particular situation may seem, the more we’ll start to realize that we can make it through a lot more than we ever thought possible.
You can also find a support group. Find people who are going through the same situations. We’ve talked about this before but I’ll say it again: you’re not alone and you’re not the only one. Others have faced the same troubles and hurdles. You are special as a human, but in your struggles you’re not so special that others haven’t faced the same exact thing. And more, they made it through.
You will too.
