Weekend Whispers :: 2 Samuel 22:32–33

For who is God except the LORD?
Who but our God is a solid rock?
God is my strong fortress,
and he makes my way perfect.

2 Samuel 22:32–33 ESV

Sometimes we have rough weeks. It’s been that for me. There are very few things that can help me get through those rough moments. I’m not sure which was the worst part of my week. It could have been being extremely short-staffed for every single night of work. It could have been anxiously waiting for news that didn’t come. It could have been hurting my back.

However, each time I found myself buried under bad feelings, verses like those above would pop into my mind.

I’ve been reading through 1 and 2 Samuels and 1 and 2 Kings in the Bible. Every time the kingdoms of Israel and Judah turned away from God, the kingdoms fell apart. But each time the people turned back to God and asked him for help, God answered and helped them!

He does the same for us.

Too often we forget who God is in our lives. We see life as something WE need to figure out on our own, but that isn’t true. When we seek refuge in God, our problems seem to not be so big anymore. And when we remember that he has a perfect plan for us, it helps us see the other side of our problems.

Heavenly Father, help me to remember that you are the center of my life. Help me to trust you to have the best plan for me, no matter how things look. Please help me to see you in all situations. In Jesus’ name, amen.
