It’s really easy on social media to see what others want us to see. And many of us are guilty of doing the same. I get it. We all want one place where it looks like our lives are perfect.
But there’s a problem with that.
How we behave and perceive others in real life has been impacted by our social media habits.
We hear what someone says and take them at their word. We never try to see beneath the surface.
I don’t know if you’ve heard the duck analogy before, but I’m going to share it either way. When we see a duck floating on the water’s surface, they seem calm, cool, and collected. But if we look beyond the surface, we’ll see that their feet are churning like crazy to keep them moving forward.
People do the same. And we’re becoming a society that’s okay with viewing only the surface.
There’s an entire generation who’s voices have been silenced because they feel like no one really sees them or cares to hear the truth.
We must do better.
How can you look beyond yourself today and see beneath the surface?
